When I first heard of the NASCAR expansion to Forza Motorsport 6, I was a little bit skeptical.
This is Forza afterall, known for windy track, crazy physics, and amazing super cars. Where does Nascar fit into all this?
But I was curious because I haven’t seen a really good NASCAR game since Papyrus NASCAR 2003 Season for the PC (yeah, that long ago).
There is a new NASCAR game coming out this next year called NASCAR Heat Evolution that we are super excited for over here (we actually started a facebook group for NASCAR Heat Evolution already).
But I digress. When I initially Loaded up this expansion I was extremely surprised by the physics model and sheer realism of the cars. I have not seen this kind of realism in stock cars and it took me back to the time when I was a kid on Windows 95 playing NASCAR Racing 2 from Papyrus.
I played through a bit of the campaign and played through it. Super fun, very challenging.
I will say this, to get the full effect of NASCAR, you must play on Maximum Difficulty (Unbeatable) and without assists.
If you have assists on with this game, it’s way too easy, and if the level is anything less than Unbeatable also too easy.
I might be super used to NASCAR Games because they were my all time favorite as a kid, but when I did use assists, on Pro (just traction control) I beat out every car in a 50 mile race by 3 seconds per lap. It was rediculous. It was a challenge on the other settings, hitting 207MPH sometimes when I was in the draft.
Drafting is the most amazing thing in this game. It feels realistic and messes with your head sometimes.
I didn’t get a chance to play the multiplayer but the addition of leagues and a full set of multiplayer really makes this Expansion Shine!!!
All in all, I feel like this probably should’ve been a $10 DLC, not a $20 – but I also understand why it is.
I don’t feel like it was money wasted, but if you’re not a fan of NASCAR it’s not a necessity.
If you’re looking for some next generation NASCAR fix, I would highly suggest you get it.
I give this NASCAR Expansion an 8/10 Rating:
Feels Like NASCAR Should
Great New Tracks
AI is lacking sometimes, but multiplayer makes up for it.
